Ann-Sofi Eriksson grew up in the small village of Dorotea in northern Sweden. In spite of being an avid music lover for as long as she can remember, for a long time she spent most of her time pursuing other interests and talents, and she didn’t start composing until 2017 when she was 47.
As a child and teenager, her main focus was on art and science, and she went on to study to be a landscape architect. She also took piano lessons from the age of 9 but quit at 14 when she started to listen to rock music and didn’t touch a piano again for 20 years.
After playing the saxophone for a few years she found her way back to the piano in her mid 30ies and started to learn chords and to play by ear.
After 10+ years of aimlessly “playing around”, using the piano mainly for relaxation as a kind of meditation, she one day all of a sudden, and much to her own surprise, started to “receive” complete songs. Since then she has been working on improving her piano playing skills and learn about recording techniques in order to be able to perform and record this music.
Ann-Sofi lives in Frankfurt in Germany with her husband and two young children.
